Penn’s Peak is proud to announce Kata Hay with The Branson Fever Luncheon Show performances on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2012, at 1:00 pm.
Dustin Rehrig producer of “Branson Fever” has announced that Tim Gillis will no longer be part of the show. “I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but due to unforeseen circumstances and Tim’s schedule with his own shows and commitments, it is impossible for him to make the October performances at Penns Peak.” Crazy Elmer and Dave Rehrig will still be the featured performers of the show along with featured performer Kata Hay.
Most musicians start out young, but Kata Hay takes the cake! Her first time on the stage, she belted out her a cappella rendition of Hank Williams’ tune “Hey Good Lookin’” and she was only two years old. At the mere age of five, she beat out a young Justin Timberlake on Ed McMahon’s Star Search, becoming the youngest contestant to ever win on the show. By ten she was appearing in an Independent film called Oklahoma Faded Love playing the lead character as a child. She soon found herself immersed in music and switching her sound to more of a western swing genre. She entered the Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship and was named the champion. She spent the next year traveling the US representing Patsy’s music. When all was said and done, Kata was a five time International Yodeling Champion.
Up until 2005, Kata spent her time touring and playing the western music circuit and recording three CD’s. She soon realized she wanted to pursue her own original music so she and, her now husband, Robbie Helton, formed Kata and The Blaze. In 2007 they released their debut album Reckless on iTunes and two years later their second, even more successful follow-up album was released. The duo also founded another band, The Grassabillies, and released their debut album in 2009. This garnered them a steady gig at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, but they quickly left this behind to, once again, pursue their own original music. In trying to get their sound out there, Kata discovered the power of YouTube and her subscriber base is growing by leaps and bounds with over 17000 subscribers and over 1.8 million video views. Kata was posting videos of herself performing some of her favorite songs of fellow artists. One video, “Hey Stephen” a song by Taylor Swift, was chosen by Taylor herself to be featured on Swifts website. Along with Star Search and Yodeling Champion, Kata is also a member of the Oklahoma Opry Hall of Fame, a Horizon Award Winner at the Oklahoma Opry, AWA’s Rising Star of the Year and she achieved third place in the International Search for the next Shake Weight Jingle.
