Dickey Betts
Dickey Betts, best known as a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, is also a guitarist, singer and songwriter. He helped form The Allman Brothers band in 1969 and played second lead guitar behind Duane Allman. Dickey is also known as one of the most influential guitar players of all times. After Duane Allman’s death, Dickey became the band’s sole guitarist. While with The Allman Brothers Band, he wrote the classic hits “Revival” and “Ramblin’ Man.” Dickey’s first solo album, Highway Call, was released in 1974 and after the Allman’s fell apart in 1976. He released more albums starting with Dickey Betts & Great Southern in 1977 featuring the hit “Bougainvillea.”
In 1989, The Allman Brothers Band reformed to mark their 20th anniversary and they enjoyed continued success throughout the ‘90’s. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they won their first Grammy and they continued to amaze audiences with their live performances. A year after marking The Allman Brothers Band’s 30th anniversary, Dickey formed the Dickey Betts Band and set out on their own. On December 17, 2009, Dickey announced that would be his last touring date. He claimed he was not retiring from playing and said he was sure there would be events that he would still be interested in playing, but for now he was just looking forward to waking up with nothing on his plate. As everyone knows, that “retirement” did not last long.
Scott Weis Band
Scott Weis, a native Pennsylvanian, has recently been named “A Great Blues Artist of Pennsylvania” and will be inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. In October Scott joined with Bobby Barth and they began writing songs with a swampy rock/blues/Americana sound for a new project called the Louisiana HooDoo Krewe. Along with the project, the Scott Weis Band has been working on a new CD with ten new tracks and an acoustic CD with 13 tracks. The band is hoping to release both CD’s shortly.
