With SALIVA & L.A. GUNS
Skid Row was born as a band in 1987, but it was not until two years later when their debut album hit that they really became known. The album went on to sell more than five million copies and they began an around the world tour. Their second album shocked the music world when it debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. Skid Row was the first Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band to do this and they album quickly shot to multi-platinum status. Eventually, the inevitable happened and the band parted ways, only to be resurrected once again in 1999. The three founding members, Rachel Bolan, Scotti Hill and Snake Sabo wanted to keep on rocking, so they scoured the country and found the voice they needed to complete their lineup. Texas native Johnny Solinger auditioned and the guys knew half way through his first song that they had found their next lead singer. By 2000 they were the opening slot on the KISS “Farewell Tour” and their music was back and better than ever.
Saliva
Hailing from Memphis, TN, Saliva began their path to stardom in 1996. Their first release was their self-titled 1997 album which earned them a signing with Island Records. The second album, Every Six Seconds, featured their chart topping hits “Your Disease” and “Click Click Boom.” These songs were featured in The Fast and The Furious, Talladega Nights and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003. The band’s popularity rose quickly and in 2002 they received a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance and their album was certified platinum by the RIAA. Saliva reached #1 on the Modern Rock chart with their single “Always.” The current lineup is original members Dave Novotny (bass), Paul Crosby (drums) and Wayne Swinny (guitar). They needed a new vocalist and in 2012 Bobby Amaru, frontman of his solo band Amaru, joined the band and made Saliva complete.
L.A. Guns
A staple of 80’s Glam Rock, L.A. Guns and their Sunset Strip roots are true legends of Hollywood. They formed in 1986, were signed in 1987 and released their debut album that summer. It was self titled and sold over 750,000 copies which earned a gold album for this up and coming metal band. They were immediately thrust out on tour with Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and AC/DC. L.A. Guns’ second album pushed even farther and, soon enough, they were reaching platinum status in sales. The years moved on and the band kept pumping out albums and touring the world. The band’s original members were branching out on solo tours as well, but L.A. Guns continued recording albums. Currently the band consists of original members Phil Lewis and Steve Riley along with Stacey Blades and Scott Griffin. With 25 years worth of material, these guys have proved to be true warriors of the 80’s genre and they keep on producing more and more.
