50 Years on the Carefree Highway Tour
Gordon Lightfoot, a native Canadian, has earned numerous awards and accolades not only in Canada but also in the US over the past 50 years. He is, like most artists, not only a singer, but also a songwriter and has even had the fortune of having his songs recorded and performed by a plethora of other great artists: Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Jr., Marty Robbins, Bob Dylan and the list goes on. His legacy was solidified even more last year when he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, an impressive feat with fewer than 400 inductees. In Canada, Gordon has been decorated with the highest honors bestowed to a civilian, the Governor’s General Award and the Companion to the Order of Canada honor of merit. He has been inducted into various Canadian Hall of Fames, was honored with a Canadian Gordon Lightfoot postage stamp and is regarded as perhaps the most prolific and greatest Canadian singer – songwriter of all time. His US awards are accumulating as well – Five Grammy nominations, Five #1’s, Five Top 10’s and Thirteen Top 40 Hits, along with his songs being regularly aired for the past 50 years which has earned him Radio Singles Chart Positions in North America. This is an accomplishment achieved by very few others.
Twenty albums and five Grammy nominations…you’d be a fool to miss someone this talented, come see Gordon Lightfoot at Penn’s Peak!!
