Molly Hatchet The 70’s saw a new genre of music emerging, a mixture of blues, country, gospel and rock n’ roll, later to be known as Southern Rock.  At the forefront of this movement were bands like the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and, of course, Molly Hatchet.  They were named after the infamous 17th Century murderess hatchet Molly who copied her killings from Lizzie Borden. Molly Hatchet was the title of their 1978 debut album and it quickly reached multi-platinum status.

Uriah Heep, an English hard rock band known for their hits “Easy Livin’” and “Wizard,” had several successful albums in the 70’s.  Their band makeup has changed quite frequently over the years, but it never stopped Uriah Heep from performing for their fans.  They are named after the Dickens character Uriah Heep from the novel David Copperfield. 

Bill Kreutzmann, former Grateful Dead drummer, has a new band with a new sound and he is pumped.  7 Walkers is comprised of Kreutzmann, Papa Mali, George Porter, Jr. and Matt Hubbard.  Their sound is an electrifying mix of New Orleans funk and classic Bay Area rock which they have dubbed “swampadelic.”  Their name comes from the title of one of their songs and the band itself is a dream come true for both Kreutzmann and Mali.
